New York, July 7 (Petra) – United Nations Secretary-General Ant?nio Guterres met on Monday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
According to a UN statement, Guterres underscored “the importance of reinforcing the ceasefire as a foundation for resuming negotiations.”
The UN chief also held a separate meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, during which they discussed the “UN-Turkey partnership” and exchanged views on the war in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, and the upcoming round of talks on Cyprus.
