New York, Sept 7 (Petra) – The Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Tom Fletcher, issued an appeal to the international community, saying, “Protect civilians arbitrarily detained in Gaza, implement the provisional measures of the International Court of Justice, and stop the firing.”
Fletcher said in a statement on Sunday that “the death, destruction, famine, and displacement of Palestinian civilians are the result of Israeli choices that defy international law and disregard the international community.”
He added that “the latest eviction order issued by the Israeli army against Palestinians in Gaza City comes after two weeks of confirmed famine, amid a massive military assault,” noting that the chances of preventing the famine from spreading to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis are very slim.
