Under HM the King’s Enlightened Leadership, Morocco Prioritizes Culture in Development Process (Minister)

Speaking at the Ministerial Dialogue of the Abu Dhabi Culture Summit, as part of a session on the theme “Culture as a driving force for socio-economic development”, the Minister stressed the importance of culture as a vector for individual and social fulfillment, a source of employment and a factor of social cohesion.

Bensaid, who took part in the meeting alongside his counterparts from several countries including Spain, Paraguay, Nigeria and Mauritius, pointed out that Morocco is committed to promoting access to culture for all, by multiplying cultural spaces and tools, reducing inequalities in access to culture and developing training in cultural professions.

The Minister, who led the Moroccan delegation to the Summit, which also included Morocco’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Ahmed Tazi, emphasized the importance of the cultural and creative industries (CCI) for the global economy, describing them as a promising horizon and a source of sustainable growth.

At this Ministerial Dialogue co-chaired by the Chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism, Mohamed Khalifa al-Mubarak, and Unesco’s Assistant Director-General for Culture, Ernesto Ottone, the Moroccan official also called for consolidating alternative geopolitical instruments based on culture to counter the economic, cultural and political fractures of today’s world.

In addition to the Ministerial Dialogue, the Abu Dhabi Culture Summit includes sessions on artificial intelligence and cinematic storytelling.

Under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco puts culture at the heart of its development process, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, said on Monday in Abu Dhabi.
