Northern Jordan Valley, Feb. 1 (Petra) – Minister of Health Feras Hawari inaugurated the newly upgraded physiotherapy and rehabilitation unit at the Abu Ubaidah Al-Jarrah Hospital in the Northern Jordan Valley on Saturday, as part of an ongoing effort to enhance healthcare services in the region.
Hawari emphasized that the government’s commitment to improving medical services across the Jordan Valley is part of a comprehensive strategy. This initiative follows the installation of an MRI machine at Muath Bin Jabal Hospital under Royal Initiatives, the opening of Ghor Al-Mazraa Health Center by Crown Prince Al Hussein, and the ongoing expansion and rehabilitation projects at various healthcare facilities, including the Princess Iman Hospital in Ma’adi.
The physiotherapy and rehabilitation unit is one phase of the Abu Ubaidah Hospital’s expansion plan, which also includes dialysis, laboratory, and pharmacy upgrades.
The unit’s modernization, funded by the humanitarian organization Humanity & Inclusion, cost approximately JD30,000 and involved the installation of advanced therapeutic equipment. The number of physiotherapy sessions has doubled from 200 to 400 per month following the upgrade.
The facility now features electrotherapy and heat therapy rooms, a rehabilitation gym for adults, a pediatric therapy room, an occupational therapy unit, and an office for a specialist in physical and rehabilitative medicine.
To enhance patient care, the department has been staffed with additional medical and technical professionals, including a qualified rehabilitation doctor and male and female physiotherapists. The unit operates four days a week, with separate treatment days allocated for men, women, and children.
The inauguration was attended by Northern Jordan Valley District Governor Khaled Kasasbeh, Parliamentary Health and Food Committee Chair Shahir Shatnawi, senior Ministry of Health officials, Irbid Governorate Council President, and Sharhabil Bin Hasnah Municipality Mayor.
