Washington, April 12 (QNA) – The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that two US warships have transited the Strait of Hormuz as part of operations aimed at preparing conditions to secure the maritime passage and begin efforts to clear naval mines.
In a statement, the command said the two vessels successfully crossed the strait on a mission intended to enhance navigation security and ensure the safety of commercial shipping in one of the world’s most critical waterways.
It added that this step falls within the broader operations carried out by US forces to address threats targeting maritime transport, noting that the transit is a preliminary phase ahead of initiating mine-clearing procedures and securing supply routes.
CENTCOM reaffirmed that it will continue its efforts in coordination with international partners to ensure freedom of navigation and the stability of global trade flows through the Strait of Hormuz. (QNA)
