Amman, Sept 17 (Petra) – The U.S. Federal Reserve on Wednesday cut interest rates by 25 basis points, bringing the benchmark range to 4–4.25 percent in its first reduction since early 2025, following a series of meetings in which rates were left unchanged.
The Fed’s projections indicate further cuts of 50 basis points by the end of this year, with an additional 25 basis points expected in each of the next two years.
The decision was approved by a vote of 11 to 1, with new Fed Chair Stephen Miran dissenting, calling instead for a half-point reduction.
