Youth body visits Royal Jerusalem committee to boost cooperation

Amman, August 17 (Petra) – A delegation from the Karama and Wafaa
Youth Authority visited the Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs on
Monday to enhance institutional cooperation and empower youth in
national affairs.

Youth play a “critical role” in raising awareness about Palestine,
according to Committee Secretary-General Abdullah Kanaan. He said
that Jordan’s duty to defend Jerusalem stems from a nationwide
history of sacrifice, backed by the historic Hashemite Custodianship
over its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Kanaan discussed how the committee uses media and education to fight
online misinformation, noting that modern digital platforms demand
active youth involvement.

Representatives from the Karama and Wafaa Youth Authority, an
independent, volunteer-led group, presented their initiatives aimed
at boosting youth political and civic participation.

Both sides discussed joint programs to boost youth awareness and
civic identity before concluding the visit with a committee-produced
documentary detailing the history of the Hashemite Custodianship in
safeguarding Jerusalem’s holy sites.
