Salt, May 20 (Petra) – Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani on Tuesday highlighted that empowering youth is a strategic imperative and a cornerstone of Jordan’s comprehensive modernization efforts.

Speaking at an expanded gathering organized by the Wadi Youth Charitable Society in Deir Alla District, attended by youth and local community figures, Momani underscored that values such as loyalty and belonging must be reflected in day-to-day practices, including respect for the rule of law and civic engagement.

Describing the region as “a symbol of productivity, dedication, and hard work,” Momani emphasized the critical role of responsible and professional media in countering misinformation, enhancing public trust, and supporting national institutions. He called for increased public awareness to help distinguish verified information from disinformation, noting that an informed citizenry is essential in complementing the role of national media.

Marking Jordan’s Independence Day, Momani stated that the occasion transcends a ceremonial commemoration, representing a continued national pact that binds Jordanians to a history of sacrifice and a forward-looking vision of progress.

He noted that Jordan continues to face regional challenges, which demand unified national efforts, adherence to Jordan’s principled positions, and a steadfast focus on development priorities.

The Minister also highlighted the government’s efforts through policy measures and legislation in cooperation with the private sector to foster an environment conducive to entrepreneurship and innovation. He pointed to the importance of embracing technological advancements such as artificial intelligence and digital transformation as key enablers of progress in economic, educational, and public service sectors.

On media affairs, Momani stated that the sector’s role extends beyond information dissemination. He called for support for credible media institutions and partnerships with civil society to enhance national dialogue. He praised the Wadi Youth Charitable Society for its initiatives, describing them as exemplary models of active citizenship and community engagement.

Concluding the meeting, Momani engaged in a dialogue with the attending youth, listening to their views and proposals on media and youth-related issues. He reiterated the government’s commitment to engaging with civil society and supporting meaningful initiatives across governorates, stressing the government’s field-oriented approach as defined by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Balqa Governorate Council, Ibrahim Awamleh, called for regulating online media platforms and banning unlicensed websites to protect the public from misinformation.

The event concluded with a unified call to bolster national discourse, safeguard society against disinformation, and reinforce values of loyalty and belonging as foundational pillars of unity and national stability.
