Amman, May 18 (Petra) – The “Employing Modern Technology to Reduce the Impacts of Climate Change by 2025” program, organized by the Ministry of Youth in partnership with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) General Secretariat, kicked off on Sunday. The program features youth delegations from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman, Bahrain, and Jordan.

Running through May 21, the program features field visits to various governorates across Jordan. It begins in Tafilah with a visit to the Dana Nature Reserve, a model for integrated environmental management. Delegations will then head north to Ajloun Governorate, where they will tour the Royal Botanic Garden and participate in a workshop at the Ajloun Innovation Incubator.
The program will conclude with visits to the Ajloun Cable Car and the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature in the Ajloun Forest Reserve.

The initiative seeks to exchange youth expertise and promote the role of modern technology in addressing climate change, within a framework of regional cooperation and environmental integration.

It also serves as a platform for interactive dialogue, allowing youth from Jordan and the Gulf states to present ideas and projects that enhance environmental innovation and sustainable development. The program aims to build a generation of informed leaders capable of driving change toward a more sustainable future.

During the launch, Minister of Youth Yazan Shdeifat highlighted the deep-rooted relations between Jordan and the Gulf states, built under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. He said these relations have translated into strategic partnerships, particularly in the fields of youth empowerment and sports development.

Shdeifat underscored the importance of joint programs that empower youth and strengthen their role in addressing global challenges, particularly climate change. He noted that the ministry aims to enhance environmental awareness among young people and encourage the adoption of innovative and sustainable solutions.

Speaking on behalf of the Qatari delegation, Amna Kaabi stressed that climate change is among the most pressing global challenges, highlighting the importance of utilizing modern technologies especially artificial intelligence to raise public awareness and support innovative youth-led initiatives that contribute to mitigation efforts.
