Amman, Jan. 21 (Petra) – Twenty Ethiopian migrants lost their lives on Tuesday when a boat sank off the coast of Yemen after departing from Djibouti.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said in a statement that the boat, carrying 35 Ethiopian migrants, a Yemeni captain, and his assistant, sank off the coast of Taiz Governorate in southwestern Yemen due to strong seasonal winds. The tragedy resulted in the deaths of 20 Ethiopian migrants, including nine women and 11 men.
