Amman, Jan. 28 (Petra) – Agriculture Minister Khaled Hneifat on Tuesday reviewed the outcomes of the National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture during a meeting with members of the “Elite Forum” social media group.
Hneifat highlighted the plan’s key pillars, which include agricultural extension, financing, marketing, investment, food industries, rural development, women’s empowerment, cooperatives, water harvesting, and afforestation.
He emphasized that the agricultural sector has led economic growth over the past two years, with exports rising by more than JD347 million as of last October, compared to the previous year. He noted that 155 dams and water ponds have been constructed, along with more than 10,000 water collection wells over the same period.
Hneifat also detailed mechanisms to support investment in the sector, including the signing of the 20th agreement for factories specializing in agricultural food industries, as well as the establishment of permanent exhibitions in Amman and Irbid, which are set to open soon.
He listened to attendees’ remarks on various agricultural issues, with participants praising the ministry’s efforts in collaboration, coordination, and addressing the realities and ambitions of the agricultural sector.
