Petra captures foreign, Arab journalists reaction on Jordan’s humanitarian airlift operation

Amman, Jan. 29 (Petra) – Following the announcement of a ceasefire, the final moments revealed a glimmer of hope and solidarity. On Tuesday, Jordan, under the direct instructions of His Majesty King Abdullah II, announced the launch of a humanitarian airlift operation to assist the people of the Gaza Strip. Sixteen Royal Jordanian Air Force planes are scheduled to take off daily, carrying humanitarian and medical aid to meet the urgent needs of those affected by the devastation.

Foreign and Arab journalists who witnessed the air bridge’s launch reported that a Jordanian aid convoy had departed two weeks ago, heading steadily toward the border crossing under the watchful eyes of Jordanian citizens, who expressed pride in seeing their country support its Palestinian brothers in their time of need, considering these moments a symbol of hope in times of hardship. This highlights the humanitarian effort helping the people of Palestine remain steadfast in their land.

The Jordan News Agency (Petra) captured the reactions of these journalists on social media platforms. They noted that Jordanian officials had reaffirmed the kingdom’s commitment to continue sending air aid to Gaza. Journalists also inquired about how these noble moments could be documented amid the chaos and destruction.

BBC journalist Fergal Keane emphasized the importance of documenting what happens after the ceasefire, especially regarding the delivery of urgent aid to Gaza. He pointed out the enormous needs of Gaza’s residents and stressed that international media should focus not only on the scale of suffering but also on the efforts being made to help the people, considering it an essential part of the media’s message.

Keane mentioned that just under two weeks ago, he followed a Jordanian land convoy carrying aid to Gaza, praising the sight of it moving from Jordan toward the border crossing and witnessing the joy of Jordanian citizens who were proud of their country’s initiative.

Meanwhile, Jordanian journalist Imad Adaileh from Al-Arabiya described the humanitarian work carried out by the Jordan Armed Forces, specifically the Royal Jordanian Air Force, as a source of pride for all Jordanians. He expressed surprise at the military’s ability to organize airdrops in a region that had been a warzone.

Al-Hurra TV journalist Haider Al-Abdali noted that the role of international media during crises is to cover events accurately and objectively. He highlighted Jordan’s delivery of humanitarian convoys to Gaza, both by land and air.

Al-Abdali stressed the importance of focusing on these new initiatives and the mechanisms of delivering humanitarian aid across borders to assist Gaza’s residents, who have been severely impacted by the war.
