Amman, Feb 1 (Petra) — The Jordanian Media Credibility Monitor (AKEED) recorded 90 rumors in January, which spread through media outlets or social platforms.
In its monthly report on Saturday, the monitor said that 20 of the 90 rumors were denied, 4 up from December when 16 rumors were dismissed.
Politics topped the list in January, with 31 rumors, followed by social rumors, 19, economy, 18, security, 13, public affairs, 7, and finally health, 2, it said.
AKEED said 76 of January rumors, 84%, came from internal sources, and 14, 16%, externally.
Eighty-three rumors, 92%, came from social media, and 7, 8%, came from media outlets, it said.
