Cairo, Feb. 2 (Petra) – Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, emphasized the need to localize artificial intelligence (AI) technology in Arab countries. He called for the development of plans and the allocation of necessary financial and human resources to keep pace with the global race in this field, ensuring the safe and ethical deployment of AI in line with the cultural values of Arab societies.
Al-Yamahi made these remarks during his speech at the opening of the Arab Dialogue Circle on “Artificial Intelligence in the Arab World: Innovative Applications and Ethical Challenges,” held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
He further stressed that building an innovative and sustainable AI ecosystem in the Arab world requires a strong partnership between governments, academic institutions, and the private sector, as well as a robust legal and legislative framework that ensures a balance between technological innovation and ethical responsibility.
Al-Yamahi also affirmed the Arab Parliament’s full commitment to continue its efforts to enhance joint Arab cooperation in this field and support initiatives that contribute to positioning Arab countries as leaders in artificial intelligence.
