
Amman, Feb. 2 (Petra) – Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research Azmi Mahafzah met on Sunday with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov to discuss enhancing cooperation in education, including faculty exchange programs, joint research teams, and student admissions.
The meeting, attended by University of Jordan President Nathir Obeidat, Princess Sumaya University President Wejdan Abu Elhaija, and Islamic Sciences University Vice President Jaafar Al-Mograbi, highlighted Jordan’s commitment to education as a national priority under royal directives. Mahafzah emphasized that developing the education sector is a cornerstone of comprehensive reform across all key sectors.
He noted that Jordanian universities have achieved high global rankings and that the ministry places significant focus on investment in both higher and general education. He also reaffirmed Jordan’s openness to Uzbek students, ensuring their full support and exploring the possibility of launching joint academic programs.
Mahafzah further outlined the role of the National Council for Future Technologies, a royal initiative aimed at diversifying income sources and fostering high-value sectors. He emphasized that technology-driven fields provide significant opportunities to establish a modern infrastructure aligned with global advancements.
For his part, Saidov expressed appreciation for Jordan’s educational experience and future-oriented policies. He reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s interest in benefiting from Jordan’s expertise in higher education and strengthening collaboration in the sector.
