Jordanian-Iraqi Trade Committee Concludes Meetings with Agreement

Amman, February 3 (Petra) – The Jordanian-Iraqi Joint Trade Committee concluded its meetings in Baghdad on Monday, signing the final minutes of the committee’s first session.

The minutes outlined agreements and mechanisms aimed at enhancing cooperation, particularly in boosting trade exchanges and addressing any challenges impeding economic collaboration.

The committee’s inaugural session was chaired by Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah and Iraqi Minister of Trade Atheer Ghurairi.

Qudah highlighted the agreements reached, emphasizing their role in overcoming obstacles to trade, export, and import operations, ultimately strengthening economic ties between the two countries. He reiterated Jordan’s commitment to fostering cooperation with Iraq, particularly in economic sectors, to maximize mutual benefits.

For his part, Ghariri underscored the importance of the discussions and agreements in deepening bilateral relations and expanding joint cooperation across various fields.

On the sidelines of the meetings, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding in standardization and quality control. Discussions also covered cooperation in trade, industry, customs, and contact points, with an agreement to schedule the next session at a later date.

The preparatory committee, headed by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply Dana Zoubi and Iraqi Ministry of Trade Undersecretary Qaisar Hashemi, held preliminary discussions ahead of the main committee meetings.

Qudah also met with several Iraqi ministers and officials to discuss economic cooperation, attended the opening of the Baghdad International Fair, and participated in the Jordanian-Iraqi Business Forum.
