Zarqa’s food industry expands globally with new partnership

Zarqa, Feb. 3 (Petra) – The food industry in Zarqa has transcended local boundaries, reaching international markets by exporting its products to over 70 countries, according to Fares Hamoudeh, President of the Zarqa Chamber of Industry.

Hamoudeh’s remarks came during a ceremony announcing a partnership between Al-Arabia Company for Manufacturing Carbonated Drinks & Natural Juices in Zarqa and Perfetti Van Melle, a global company, to launch Chupa Chups carbonated drinks in the Gulf and Middle Eastern markets.

In 2023, food exports from Zarqa grew by 8%, reaching a total of $261 million. This agreement is expected to create additional job opportunities for youth in the governorate and neighboring areas. Hamoudeh highlighted that the high quality of Jordanian food products has made the kingdom an attractive hub for major global brands, reinforcing its position in this vital sector.

Zaid Al-Bazzaz, owner and CEO of Al-Arabia, praised the agreement, stating that it reflects the trust Perfetti Van Melle has placed in the company, which has achieved international quality standards backed by ISO22000, FSSC22000, HACCP, and HALAL certifications.

Fares Khair, Business Development Director at Al-Arabia, emphasized that this collaboration with a global brand like Chupa Chups highlights the company’s commitment to excellence and innovation. He added that the launch of these drinks will strengthen their market presence and offer consumers a unique experience.

Carla Fernandez Moreno, Food and Beverage Licensing Manager at Perfetti Van Melle, highlighted the importance of the partnership in connecting directly with consumers in the Gulf and the Middle East. The new Chupa Chups carbonated drinks will come in a variety of flavors inspired by the famous candy, including strawberry, cola, watermelon, sour blueberry, sour green apple, and lemon, designed to provide a refreshing and flavorful experience for soda lovers in the region.
