
Amman, Feb. 4 (Petra) – The Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) recorded an 18.7% increase in exports during January, reaching JD 560 million compared to JD 472 million in the same period of 2024, according to statistical data obtained by the Jordan News Agency (Petra).
Most industrial sectors experienced growth, except for the wood and furniture industry, which declined by 41%, and the medical and medical supplies sector, which dropped by 39.9%.
India, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq accounted for more than half of the chamber’s exports, totaling JD 329 million. Geographically, Arab countries led with JD 267 million in imports from Jordan, followed by non-Arab Asian countries at JD 125 million, and African nations at JD 2 million.
Exports to North America stood at JD 100 million, while European Union countries received JD 37 million, other European nations JD 20 million, and other global markets JD 8 million.
Sector-wise, mining industries led with JD 137 million in exports, followed by chemicals and cosmetics at JD 94 million, and engineering, electrical, and IT products at JD 91 million.
Food, agricultural, and livestock industries contributed JD 83 million, while leather and textiles recorded JD 46 million, and medical and medical supplies JD 33 million.
Exports from the plastic and rubber industries amounted to JD 26 million, construction JD 25 million, packaging and paper JD 24 million, and wood and furniture JD 1 million.
Established in 1962, the ACI represents 8,600 industrial enterprises, employing 159,000 workers with a total capital of approximately JD 5 billion.
