JTB Wraps Up Successful Participation in Mumbai Tourism Exhibition

Amman, February 5 (Petra) — The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) has concluded its participation in the International Tourism Exhibition (OTM), held in Mumbai, India, from January 30 to February 1. The event featured participation from a number of Jordanian tourism companies and Royal Jordanian Airlines.

The Jordanian pavilion at the exhibition saw a visit from Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, India’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, who engaged with representatives of the Jordanian tourism sector and explored the promotional offerings presented by the board.

Minister Shekhawat expressed his admiration for Jordan’s unique tourism assets and highlighted the potential for further cooperation between the two countries in areas such as wedding tourism, religious tourism, and cultural exchange.

The main goal of Jordan’s participation was to promote the country as a premier tourism destination, with a special focus on cultural and heritage tourism. The board also aimed to attract Indian wedding planners, showcasing Jordan’s ideal locations for such events, including the Dead Sea, Petra, and Wadi Rum.

The exhibition also highlighted Jordan as a prime filming destination, thanks to its distinctive landscapes, which stand out as competitive with global filming locations.

The Jordanian pavilion drew significant attention, particularly after Royal Jordanian Airlines announced that it would begin direct flights between Amman and Mumbai in April. This development is expected to boost the influx of Indian tourists to Jordan, particularly those seeking unique travel experiences.

On the exhibition’s sidelines, Jordan was awarded the “Best Cultural and Heritage Tourism Destination” at the OTM Excellence Awards. The award recognized Jordan’s unique status as a destination that seamlessly combines ancient civilizations and stunning natural beauty. The award was presented to the Jordan Tourism Board during an official ceremony at the exhibition.

Last year, the Jordan Tourism Board also organized a traveling exhibition in the Indian cities of Bangalore and Mumbai, supported by the Jordanian Embassy in Delhi. The event focused on positioning Jordan as a key tourism destination and promoting it among Indian wedding planners. It also emphasized Jordan’s archaeological and tourism sites as potential filming locations.

The board reaffirmed its commitment to participating in international exhibitions to further elevate Jordan’s position as a leading global tourism destination and attract tourists from India and the broader Asian market.
