Amman, Feb. 11 (Petra) – In a move to enhance bilateral cooperation, Jordan’s Cabinet decided on Tuesday to standardize trucking fees between Jordan and Syria and implement the principle of reciprocity.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the decision aligns with government efforts to keep pace with the increasing movement of trade and transport between the two neighboring countries. The measure aims to facilitate the smooth flow of goods and improve freight movement through the Jaber border crossing, a key trade gateway.

Syrian authorities had previously canceled all fees and stamps that were previously imposed at the Jaber-Nassib crossing.

During a meeting in Amman on January 26, Jordanian and Syrian officials discussed reactivating the bilateral free trade agreement to boost trade volume, address challenges facing the private sector, ease transportation flows, and reduce transit truck fees for both sides.

According to the Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC), Jordan had 19,852 truck tractors and 21,456 trailers in operation last year.
