Amman, Feb. 11 (Petra) – Jordan’s Senate stands firmly behind His Majesty King Abdullah II in his unwavering and clear stance that Jordan’s national interests remain the top priority, Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez said on Tuesday.
Al-Fayez’s remarks came in response to King Abdullah’s statements during a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House earlier in the day.
The king sent a clear message that Jordan will not accept the displacement of Gazans into its territory and that the country’s interests are paramount, Al-Fayez said. He added that the king emphasized the need for Gaza’s reconstruction and firmly rejected any forced relocation of its residents. A unified Arab response to Trump’s initiative is expected, the king noted.
His Majesty reaffirmed that no amount of pressure will force Jordan to abandon its national principles, Al-Fayez said, stressing that the king remains committed to protecting Jordan and its people. The Palestinian issue, he added, must be resolved on Palestinian land based on international legitimacy and the two-state solution.
The king also addressed the escalating situation in the occupied West Bank, urging Trump to take action to curb Israeli measures that could further destabilize the region, Al-Fayez noted.
He emphasized that His Mjesty King Abdullah reiterated his belief that peace in the Middle East serves the interests of all parties and that achieving it is a collective responsibility. He further commended the king’s leadership in defending Jordan’s national interests and countering initiatives that could threaten the country’s security and stability.
