Amman, Feb 12 (Petra) – Members of the Lower House of Parliament reaffirmed their unified support for His Majesty King Abdullah II, stressing that all Jordanians stand firmly behind the King in his efforts to defend the nation’s interests and maintain his steadfast position on the Palestinian issue.

During a session on Wednesday, presided over by Speaker Ahmad Safadi and attended by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, lawmakers praised the king’s clear and rational stance against any forced displacement of Palestinians.

The session, initially scheduled as a legislative meeting, was converted into a special discussion on the king’s remarks following his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday. A total of 110 lawmakers took the floor, and members of parliament gave a standing ovation in tribute to the king’s leadership.

Lawmakers emphasized that any resolution to the Palestinian issue must align with a unified Arab position, rejecting any displacement or attempts to resolve the crisis at Jordan’s expense.

They stressed that His Majesty King Abdullah does not compromise on national interests or Arab causes, highlighting that he has placed the entire Arab world before a significant responsibility regarding the Palestinian issue.

“The insistence on displacing Palestinians is a blatant violation of Arab and Palestinian rights and contradicts international laws and conventions,” MPs stated.

They called for legislation to classify forced displacement as a war crime under international law and urged the government to take the issue to the International Criminal Court. Some MPs proposed establishing a ministry dedicated to refugee affairs and the right of return.

Parliamentarians warned that forced displacement would only lead to further instability in the region and urged Arab nations to take a firm stand in protecting Palestinian rights, particularly in Gaza.

They also called for economic reforms to reduce reliance on foreign aid, advocating for financial self-sufficiency as a national priority.

Reaffirming Jordan’s historic support for Palestine, lawmakers stated that Jordan would remain a steadfast ally of the Palestinian people, rejecting any attempt to empty Gaza of its residents.

“Jordan will never accept a solution to the Palestinian issue at its expense. Any resolution must align with Arab consensus,” MPs emphasized, urging Arab nations to reinforce Gaza’s resilience and support reconstruction efforts.

Parliament praised the king’s diplomatic leadership, noting that during his meeting with President Trump, King Abdullah made it clear that the Palestinian issue is not just a Jordanian or Egyptian matter but a pan-Arab concern requiring collective action.

“The king spoke with the voice of the entire Arab world, defending its causes with unwavering determination,” MPs declared.

They also reaffirmed their full support for the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army in safeguarding national security and protecting the country’s borders.

Before concluding the session, Speaker Safadi called on lawmakers and citizens across Jordan to gather at Marka Airport to welcome His Majesty the King Abdullah II and HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II upon their return.
