Prime Minister visits key sites in Karak, Ma’an

Karak/Ma’an, February 16 (Petra) — Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan visited several locations in Karak and Ma’an on Sunday as part of his regular field visits.

Hassan began his tour in Karak, where he visited the Qatrana District. He inspected the Qatrana Centre for Inclusive Day Services, accompanied by the Minister of Social Development.

During his visit, Hassan instructed that the centre be provided with physiotherapists and speech therapists. He also called for creating a garden and additional facilities to serve the centre’s beneficiaries and the local community.

Established in 2009 as part of a royal initiative, the Qatrana Centre offers inclusive day services for persons with disabilities, including rehabilitation programmes, early intervention, community rehabilitation and other services.

The centre houses offices for social development services and the National Aid Fund (NAF).

He visited the Qatrana archaeological site, where he, along with the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, directed the Ministry of Tourism to develop the site.

Plans include building a visitor centre and rest areas to enhance the site’s accessibility and highlight its historical significance. The ancient Qatrana Castle, located 90 km south of Amman on the desert road, was built in 1517 and historically served as a protective stop for pilgrims en route to Mecca.

In Ma’an, the Prime Minister visited the Al-Muhammadiyah Mixed Secondary School and Al-Muhammadiyah Secondary School for Boys.

He instructed the expansion of both schools by adding new classrooms, which should be completed before the start of the next academic year. He directed updates to the computer labs, the construction of playgrounds and student yards and the completion of general maintenance.

The Prime Minister visited the Al-Manshiyya First Health Centre in Al-Ash’ari District, accompanied by Minister of Health Firas Hawari. He instructed the provision of necessary staff and equipment and general maintenance of the centre.

In Al-Jafr District, Hassan toured the Al-Jafr Health Centre, where he listened to the concerns and requests of visitors. He instructed the centre to be given the required maintenance and enhancements to improve services for residents.

He was accompanied during his tour by the Minister of Local Administration and the Governor of Ma’an.
