Washington, Feb. 17 (Petra) – The U.S. Department of State stated on Monday that the United States does not view the upcoming meeting with a Russian delegation in Riyadh on Tuesday as the beginning of “negotiations” regarding Ukraine. Instead, it is seen as a follow-up to the phone conversation between President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, according to the U.S. State Department website and The Washington Post.
U.S. State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce told reporters in Riyadh, “I don’t think this should be seen as being about the details or progress in the context of some form of negotiations.”
She added, “As President Donald Trump requested, this is actually a follow-up to that phone call to see if we can move forward and determine what is possible.”
