Aqaba, Feb 19 (Petra) – Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Nayef Fayez, met on Wednesday with Belgian Ambassador to Jordan, Serge Dickschen, to discuss trade and economic relations between the two countries.
Fayez highlighted the strong relations between Jordan and Belgium, based on mutual respect and shared interests, emphasizing the importance of enhancing and developing trade and economic ties, as well as increasing joint projects.
He stressed key economic issues, particularly increasing investments and bilateral trade exchanges, intensifying delegation visits, and fostering cooperation between the private sector institutions of both countries.
He also underscored the efforts of Jordan in developing an investment-friendly environment, including a set of reforms such as the new Investment Environment Law, which offers many incentives for investors along with providing facilitation for businesses, particularly in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone.
In turn, Ambassador Dickschen affirmed the deep historical relations between Jordan and Belgium and the commitment of the leaderships of both countries to deepen them. He highlighted the importance of increasing investment between the two nations, praising the governmental reforms and the establishment of a business environment aimed at attracting more investments and empowering existing ones.
He also stressed the importance of cooperation between the private sectors of Jordan and Belgium to serve the interests of both countries.
The ambassador expressed Belgium’s commitment to strengthening relations with Jordan, especially in economic and investment partnerships, and activating cooperation between the chambers of commerce of the two countries. He showed readiness to further develop economic relations and explore untapped opportunities, increase trade exchanges, and enhance joint investments, in line with the historical ties between the two nations based on mutual respect.
Ambassador Dickschen also noted Jordan’s prominent position in the region, with its competitive advantages in investment, especially its stability, entrepreneurial leadership, and many success stories of startups that have achieved global recognition.
He emphasized the importance of increasing trade and investment exchanges, expanding and diversifying export bases, activating the role of businessmen, and fostering cooperation and networking between private sector institutions in both countries.
