
Amman, Feb 23 (Petra) – Secretary-General of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Jamal Qteishat, met on Sunday with the President of the Palestinian Contractors Union, Ahmad Al Qadi, and an accompanying delegation to discuss mutual cooperation and the potential to leverage Jordan’s advanced expertise in construction, housing, and contracting.
According to a ministry statement, Qteishat reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, in line with His Majesty King Abdullah II’s consistent approach to regional solidarity. He highlighted the ministry’s willingness to share its knowledge in development, modernization, and training within the housing and construction sectors.
Officials from various departments, including laboratories and quality control, governorate affairs, the National Building Council, and the Road Asset Management Unit, presented Jordan’s experience in road asset management, performance-based road maintenance contracts, earthquake-resistant building codes, and the national green building guide. They also outlined government incentives for green building permits to encourage sustainable construction practices.
The Palestinian delegation was introduced to the ministry’s operational framework in public works directorates in governorates and its mechanisms for engaging with citizens and coordinating with governmental institutions, local councils, and municipalities across the country.
For his part, Al Qadi conveyed the Palestinian people’s gratitude to His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Jordanian government, and its people for their unwavering support in various fields. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and expressed interest in adopting Jordan’s technical standards in road construction, laboratory management, quality control, and project monitoring.
