Vatican announces Pope Francis had a “Peaceful Night” after breathing crisis

Amman, Feb 23 (Petra) – The Vatican announced that Pope Francis had a peaceful night and rested after experiencing a breathing crisis on Saturday, which required oxygen supplementation and a blood transfusion.

The Holy See Press Office confirmed in a statement on Sunday that blood tests revealed a drop in platelet count and red blood cells, prompting the blood transfusion.

Pope Francis was hospitalized on February 14 to treat a lung infection.
