Center Stage in Yunnan Cultural Celebration
Yunnan, China, 20 Jul (ONA) — A vibrant performance by a
Chinese Yizu Dage team
captivated spectators during a cultural parade at a public square in Weishan Yi
and Hui Autonomous County, located in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, southwest
China’s Yunnan Province.
The event highlighted the rich heritage of the Yi ethnic group,
showcasing Dage, a
traditional folk art with a history spanning nearly 1,000 years.
Recognized as a national-level
intangible cultural heritage in 2008, Yizu Dage is deeply rooted in Yi culture,
traditionally performed during festivals, weddings, funerals, and other
communal gatherings. Weishan, often referred to as the “Cradle
of Yizu Dage,”remains a key hub for preserving and
promoting this ancient art form.
In recent years, provincial and prefecture authorities have
implemented special policies and funding initiatives to
safeguard and popularize Dage art.
These efforts include training programs for young performers, cultural
festivals, and promotional campaigns aimed at both domestic and international
audiences.
Today, Dage is not only a cherished part of daily
life for local communities but also amajor tourist attraction,
drawing visitors eager to experience Yunnan’s diverse ethnic traditions. The
