Amman, July 26 (Petra) – The Jordanian Maltrans Group, a leading shipping and clearing company, announced a new shipping service launched by the international company CStar Line, aimed to link Chinese maritime gateways to Red Sea ports, including the Port of Aqaba.
The strategic move also enhances trade connectivity between the Far East and the Arab region.
In a statement on Saturday , Maltrans Group CEO Nabil Khatib confirmed the new service is set to launch in the first phase with two trips per month, using a fleet of four ships with a capacity ranging from 1,600 to 2,000 TEUs.
Khatib stated the port rotation includes Ningbo, Shanghai, Guangzhou (Nansha Port), Jeddah, Aqaba, and Sokhna.
This cooperation, he noted, represents a “significant” opportunity to strengthen Aqaba’s position as a “regional hub” for logistics and maritime shipping services, and directly connect it to vital Asian markets.
Khatib added that this new service responds to “growing” regional demand, aiming to fill gaps in underserved shipping lanes.
On its significance, he noted the direct connection with Chinese ports represents a “qualitative” development in the movement of goods to and from the region.
Khatib said: “Designation of Maltrans Group as the exclusive agent for CStar Line in Aqaba represents an important turning point in strengthening Jordan’s position as a regional logistics hub”.
Khatib underscores the importance of smart partnerships between local expertise and international lines in building “a more interconnected and efficient future in the maritime transport sector.”
