Amman, July 30 (Petra) – Speaker of Lower House of Parliament Ahmad Safadi met on Wednesday with Director General of the Arab Planning Institute (API), Dr. Abdullah Fahed Shami.
During the meeting held at the House’s headquarters, Safadi expressed appreciation for the API’s role in supporting economic and social development in the Arab region through capacity building, research, institutional support programs.
Safadi also noted the API’s role in promoting entrepreneurship and developing capabilities of Arab youth.
Jordan, he stated, is pursuing “comprehensive” paths to enhance national development, adding that Jordanian workforce have a “significant and prestigious reputation, due to their high competence and ability to keep pace with developments in various fields.”
Shami, in turn, affirmed the API’s “keenness” to communicate with Arab parliamentary institutions, adding that the institute seeks to transfer a set of skills to Arab youth in various countries by offering training programs that reflect international development trends.
Shami praised Jordan’s “advanced” positions in the education and infrastructure fields.
Following the meeting, the House’s Secretary-General, Awad Ghweiri, and Shami signed a training agreement to train workers of the House’s General Secretariat and benefit from the API’s diverse expertise.
