Capital expenditures up to JD632m in first seven months of 2025

Amman, Sep.20 (Petra) – Capital expenditures amounted to approximately JD632 million during the first seven months of the current year, marking a “significant” increase of more than JD87 million, compared to the same period last year, official statistics showed.

The figure comes amid Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan’s directives to accelerate the capital expenditure mechanism by approving the General Budget Law early this year.

The increase was used to implement a number of important capital projects, mainly completion of Princess Basma Hospital, construction of a number of public schools nationwide, commencement of preliminary work on the National Water Carrier Project, and accomplishment of several major routes, mainly Muwaqqar-Azraq Road, Mafraq-Zarqa Road, and Desert Highway.

Government spending also went to improving infrastructure at Jaber Border Crossing and commencing natural gas supply to Jordan’s industrial complexes.

Additionally, work has begun on the semi-Olympic swimming pool in Prince Mohammed City in Zarqa, and tourist facilities in Karak were developed, including maintenance of Karak Castle and Karak Gate, as well as digitizing 80% of government services.
