Oman Welcomes Joint European Statement Rejecting Israeli Settlement
Expansion

Muscat, 8 Sep 2026 (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman has welcomed the
joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, Canada,
Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain and
Sweden, which rejects Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied Palestinian
territories and calls for steps to prevent trade linked to settlements deemed
illegal under international law.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry today, Oman said the
continued expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian
territories constitutes a violation of international law and UN resolutions. It
called on the international community to take a firm stand to prevent and
remove any obstacles to the full and legitimate independence of the Palestinian
state on the 4 June 1967 borders, in pursuit of a just and comprehensive peace.

Oman also urged the international community to take further
practical and effective steps to deter Israeli settlement policies in the
occupied Palestinian territories, ensure respect for international law and
international humanitarian law and prevent the continuation of measures aimed
at altering the demographic and geographic reality of the State of Palestine
and the rights of the Palestinian people to their land.
