Amman, March 17 (Petra) — Jordan Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) on Tuesday warned the public against online scam attempts, urging citizens to avoid clicking on suspicious links sent by unknown sources or others impersonating official entities.
In a statement, the TRC called for abstaining from engaging with fake or unverified shopping offers and refraining from responding to any requests to transfer money or share personal information.
TRC also cautioned against scammers’ phone calls that mimic the voice of a family member requesting money transfers.
The TRC noted such calls can be generated by artificial intelligence technologies, advising steps to verify authenticity of such requests by calling back the person directly.
