Riyadh, April 10 (QNA) – The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) reaffirmed its firm and supportive stance toward the sovereignty of Lebanese Republic, as well as its security, stability, and territorial integrity, in line with the aspirations of the Lebanese people for security, stability, and development.
In a statement on Friday, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi welcomed the decision issued by the Lebanese Cabinet, which calls on the army and security forces to immediately begin strengthening and asserting full state control over Beirut Governorate, and to restrict weapons to legitimate state forces only.
Albudaiwi stressed that this decision represents an important step toward consolidating Lebanese state sovereignty and strengthening its legitimate institutions, contributing to maintaining security and stability and safeguarding the safety of citizens and residents. (QNA)
