Baghdad, April 11 (QNA) – The Iraqi parliament elected on Saturday the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s candidate Nizar Amidi as the new president of Iraq.
President-elect Nizar Amidi has received 227 votes to become the sixth president of the Republic of Iraq since 2003.
Earlier today, the Iraqi parliament convened a session to elect a new president from among 16 candidates vying for the position. (QNA)
