Washington, June 5 (QNA) – The United States announced today the allocation of nearly USD 38 million to combat the Ebola virus.

The US State Department said in a statement that the United States will provide an additional USD 38 million in funding to support efforts to combat the Ebola virus, bringing the total direct funding provided to date to more than USD 200 million.

The department did not specify how the funding would be spent, but said it is working closely with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as with the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, to implement a “rapid and comprehensive response” to the Ebola outbreak.

The department confirmed that US citizens have been exposed to the virus but are asymptomatic and will be quarantined in Kenya at a facility under construction.
