Participates in 52nd Session of Arab Labour Conference in Cairo

Cairo,
13 Sep 2026 (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman is taking part in the 52nd session
of the Arab Labour Conference being hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt until
20 September 2026.

The
conference is organized by the Arab Labour Organization under the theme
“Sustainable Economic Growth: Towards Inclusive and Equitable Social
Development in Arab Countries”. It deals with measures to promote
sustainable economic growth, equitable social development, climate change and
its impact on the work environment.

The
conference also underlines the role of startups in supporting entrepreneurship,
generating new employment opportunities and boosting productivity.

The
event seeks to align skills with labour market needs and support the
formulation of labour policies that are capable of keeping pace with economic,
technological and social transition.

The
conference studies means of enhancing Arab cooperation in the fields of labour
and employment and to facilitate the exchange of expertise and successful
experiences among Arab countries.

Faisal
bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (OCCI), said that the Sultanate of Oman’s participation
in the Arab Labour Conference responds to rapid developments taking place in
labour markets. These changes, he observed, stress the need to develop labour
policies and consolidate the role of the private sector in supporting
sustainable growth and providing high-quality employment opportunities.

Al
Rawas pointed out that the next stage requires a focus on developing skills so
that they could align with labour market needs and meet the needs of digital
transition and the green economy. He added that the next stage also calls
for supporting startups and developing their ability to garner innovation and
growth. He stressed the importance of constant cooperation and the exchange of
expertise among Arab states to help improve the work environment and boost the
ability of Arab economies to adapt to developments and achieve sustainable
growth in accordance with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

On
the sidelines of the conference, the Ministry of Labour participated in the
65th meeting of the GCC Council of Labour Ministers.
