Aqaba, June 8 (Petra) — The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority
(ASEZA) and Sager Drones Company signed a cooperation agreement aimed
at employing drone technology to support operational, monitoring, and
environmental activities in Aqaba, as part of efforts to advance
smart transformation and adopt innovative technological solutions in
city management and development.
According to an ASEZA statement issued Monday, Director of
Information Technology and Digital Transformation Jabra Dahdal said
the agreement marks the launch of a pilot phase for a unified drone
platform powered by artificial intelligence.
He said the initiative aligns with ASEZA’s efforts to enhance service
efficiency and improve the management of vital resources and
facilities through the provision of accurate field data that supports
decision-making and future planning based on technology and data
analysis.
Dahdal added that the project will contribute to strengthening
Aqaba’s position as a leading economic destination by integrating
advanced technologies into development and operational processes.
Under the agreement, drones will be used for aerial surveillance and
reconnaissance missions, as well as for inspecting infrastructure,
vital facilities, dams, and stormwater drainage systems.
The cooperation also includes urban mapping and monitoring urban
expansion, which will support infrastructure development, improve
urban planning efficiency, and enhance the management of development
projects across the region.
Dahdal said the technology will also be utilized to monitor dams and
assess their operational efficiency, helping ensure sustainability,
strengthen preparedness, and improve mechanisms for responding to
weather conditions and flood risks, thereby enhancing public safety.
For its part, Sager Drones affirmed its commitment to providing
advanced national solutions that support sustainable development
efforts and leverage modern technologies to serve key sectors across
the Kingdom.
The company said the partnership aims to introduce the latest drone
technologies and applications to Aqaba, supporting sustainable
development plans and improving the efficiency of services and
strategic projects in the region.
