Oman
Men’s Volleyball Team Participates in Arab Championship in Jordan
Amman,
6 Oct 2026 (ONA) — Oman’s national volleyball team is participating in the
24th Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship, hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of
Jordan.
The
tournament kicks off this evening and runs until 15 October at the Arena Hall
in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with the participation of six Arab teams:
Oman, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria.
Oman
will play Algeria later this evening at 6:00 pm Oman time. The team’s second
match will be against Saudi Arabia tomorrow, Wednesday, at 5:00 pm. Oman will
face Kuwait on Friday, 9 October, at 7:00 pm, followed by a match against
tournament host Jordan on Sunday, 11 October, at 7:00 pm. Oman will conclude
its fixtures against Bahrain on Wednesday, 14 October.
The
tournament will be played in a single round-robin format. The team finishing
first will win the championship and gold medals, the runner-up will receive
silver medals, and the third-placed team will take bronze.
Oman
finished fourth in the previous edition and won the bronze medal in the 22nd
edition.
It
is worth noting that 12 teams from the 18 member states of the Arab Volleyball
Federation are absent from this tournament, which will have a clear impact on
the technical level of the competition. The absent teams are the United Arab
Emirates, Qatar, Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, Palestine, Yemen,
Lebanon, Sudan, and Somalia.
