Amman, June 13 (Petra) – Arab women journalists have proven a
capacity to excel, contribute, and shape awareness through their
robust and competent role to convey the truth and defend the causes
of their societies and countries, Senator Suhair Al-Ali said on
Saturday.
She made the remarks during a ceremony at the Arab Women Media Center
to mark Arab Women Journalists Day, during which a select group of
female media professionals and academics from Jordan and other other
Arab countries were honored for their professional and academic
contributions.
Al-Ali said the center has, over many years, been an Arab project
that believes in the role of media in development and in the ability
of Arab women to innovate, influence, and bring about change.
The center has not been only a training institution or a media
platform, but has contributed to building the capacities of Arab
women journalists and enhancing their professional and intellectual
presence, she pointed out.
Mahasen Al-Imam, the center’s founder and director, said media is a
mission based on ethics and responsibility, adding that the center
managed to pursue its journey and achieve the goal of serving media
professionals.
She noted that UNESCO provided significant support to the center in
its early days, which contributed to the implementation of its plans
and programs. She called on new generations to build on these
achievements and continue developing media work, leveraging the tools
and opportunities offered by modern technology.
Also addressing the ceremony were honorees, who shared their
professional experiences and success stories, stressing the
importance of responsible media in serving society and raising
awareness. The center also screened a documentary highlighting its
key milestones and activities.
