Oman Space Conference 2026 Held in Muscat

Muscat, 4 October 2026 (ONA) — Oman
Space Conference 2026 was held today in Muscat in the presence of 70
representatives of government departments and establishments operating in the
sector of space, industry and academia.

The conference was organized by
“Space Tech in Gulf” in partnership with the Ministry of Transport,
Communications and Information Technology. It covered various topics related to
the development of the space sector in the Sultanate of Oman. Discussions
covered sector priorities, practical applications of space technologies, and
opportunities for collaboration and partnership among relevant stakeholders.

The event focused on the national
policy, schedule and executive programme for Oman’s space sector and their role
in supporting the goals of Oman Vision 2040. It also examined mechanisms for
utilizing Earth observation applications and space data to enhance government
services and improve efficiency across various sectors, including agriculture,
the environment and the marine environment.

The conference highlighted
opportunities for developing national capabilities, empowering local
space-sector companies and fostering partnerships between the public sector,
the private sector and the academia, with the prime objective of establishing an
integrated national space system.

Discussions during the conference
also elaborated on ways to localize space technologies and services,
consolidate national capabilities in this field, supporting strategic interests
and national security and reviewing space policies, international cooperation
and promising investment opportunities within the space sector.

The conference assumed significance due
to the growing global interest in the space sector and its role in supporting economic
and knowledge-based development, making optimum use of space technologies and
data to devise innovative solutions for development challenges and boosting the
Sultanate of Oman’s readiness to leverage the opportunities offered by the
space economy.
