Amman, July 7 (Petra) –Ministry of Water and Irrigation, in
cooperation with relevant authorities, conducted a campaign in the
Southern Shuna district and detected 14 illegal connections to the
main 6-inch water pipeline supplying Al-Rama area.
The illegal connections, each with a 1-inch diameter, involved
fixtures to siphon off water illegally.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the ministry said the attacks
illegally stole water to supply farms and chalets to fill ponds,
which diverted “large quantities of water from citizens’ allocated
drinking water quotas.”
After detecting and removing the illegal connections, the ministry
stated the necessary reports were prepared for referral to the
relevant authorities to take legal action against the violators.
Announcing the continued crackdown across most regions, the ministry
expressed its appreciation for the cooperation of the Ministry of
Interior, the Public Security Directorate, security agencies, and
citizens in combating water theft incidents.
