Muscat, July 08 (QNA) – Oman and Saudi Arabia have called for restraint and renewed diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions, with developments in the Strait of Hormuz featuring prominently during talks between the two countries’ foreign ministers in Muscat.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al Busaidi met Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, who is on an official visit to Oman, to discuss regional and political developments, bilateral cooperation and coordination on issues of mutual concern.

According to the Omani side, the ministers reviewed a range of regional and political issues and explored ways to strengthen coordination between the two countries, alongside efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation.

Discussing regional and international developments, the ministers focused on the situation surrounding navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting the strategic importance of the waterway for global trade and international energy security.

Both sides stressed the need to prioritize de-escalation and avoid any actions that could widen regional risks. They also called for pursuing practical diplomatic solutions to reduce tensions while safeguarding the safety and freedom of maritime navigation.

The ministers further reviewed partnership initiatives under the Omani-Saudi Coordination Council, examining opportunities to build on the comparative advantages of both countries and the shared objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and Saudi Vision 2030. (QNA)
