London, July 08 (QNA) – Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk advanced on Wednesday to the Wimbledon semifinals after defeating Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in straight sets in the quarterfinals.
Kostyuk secured a 6-3, 6-2 victory to reach the Wimbledon semifinals for the first time in her career.
The 24-year-old is now into her second Grand Slam semifinal of the year, having also reached the final four at the French Open (Roland Garros), where she was defeated by Russia’s Mirra Andreeva.
Kostyuk will face Czech Linda Noskova in Thursday’s semifinal after Noskova overcame Belgium’s Elise Mertens 6-3, 7-5 in straight sets.
Paolini, the 2024 Wimbledon runner-up, was eliminated from the tournament. (QNA)
