Environment Ministry, Arkaan Development and Training Sign MoU

Amman, July 26 (Petra) – Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman
Sunday said the ministry is continuing to expand its partnerships
with Jordan’s civil society institutions.

He noted environmental protection is a shared responsibility, adding
that action to raise awareness and promote positive practices is
essential to achieving sustainability.

His remarks came during the signing of a memorandum of understanding
(MoU) with Arkaan Development and Training to strengthen cooperation
in environmental awareness and education, capacity building, and
community-based environmental initiatives, in support of the
Kingdom’s sustainable development goals.

In a statement, Suleiman said the memo would facilitate
implementation of specialized programs and initiatives that promote
community participation in environmental protection and align with
national priorities and sustainable development goals.

In turn, Arkaan General Manager Mohammad Al-Aidi said the partnership
would be translated into awareness and training programs and
community initiatives aimed at promoting environmental culture,
encouraging volunteerism, and building the capacities of young people
and students.

He said these efforts would create a “positive and sustainable”
impact on society and the environment, expressing pride in signing
the memorandum with the Ministry of Environment.

Additionally, the memo secures cooperation in implementing awareness
and educational programs promoting environmental sustainability,
recycling, and the efficient use of water and energy.

The Mou also covers the exchange of technical expertise in
environmental education, capacity building for students and
educational personnel, joint environmental campaigns and initiatives
targeting local communities, and support for afforestation activities
at projects of mutual interest.

The memo reflects mutual commitment to strengthening integration
between the public sector and civil society institutions and
expanding cooperation on environmental and development initiatives,
contributing to a stronger culture of sustainability and supporting
national efforts to protect the environment and achieve sustainable
development.
