Special Envoy of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Derk Segaar, expressed disappointment that the humanitarian tragedy caused by the war in Sudan has not received the international attention it deserves despite the scale of civilian suffering. Speaking from Khartoum, Segaar said he would work to convey the reality of the situation to the world and mobilize greater support for humanitarian response efforts. He praised the resilience and dedication of Sudanese Red Crescent volunteers, who have continued providing assistance under extremely challenging conditions. During his visit, the envoy inspected humanitarian and health activities carried out by the Sudanese Red Crescent Society in Khartoum, including mobile clinics, support for displaced families, environmental sanitation campaigns, and preparations for emergency response during the rainy season. The Secretary-General of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, Ahmed Al-Tayeb Suleiman, highlighted the importance of the visit, saying it allowed the envoy to witness firsthand the humanitarian situation and the efforts being made despite the challenges.
