Khartoum, 26 July 2026 (SUNA) – The Minister of Health announced the return of 75 percent of the country’s key medical and treatment institutions following the systematic destruction caused by the war, affirming that efforts are continuing steadily to restore full capacity in the health sector and expressing expectations that this will be achieved in the near future. Speaking during the 61st briefing forum organized by the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) at the Cultural Centre in Omdurman under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Tourism and Antiquities, the minister said that Sudan is addressing the health issue through six key pillars covering all aspects of the sector. He affirmed that the country continues to make progress across these areas in order to provide health services that meet citizens’ needs. He said that during the past period of the war, efforts were primarily focused on the pillar of saving lives, noting that a major transformation is now taking place. He added that the Ministry has begun comprehensive institutional work following its return to Khartoum, pointing out that the remaining hospitals in Khartoum are expected to resume operations in the coming period. The minister revealed that an integrated vision has been developed under the name “Hope Strategy” to advance the health sector, with support from the World Health Organization. The strategy is scheduled to be launched on Wednesday during the current week and aims to achieve comprehensive health equity.BH/BH
