Amman, July 26 (Petra) — Jordan and Saudi Arabia should move beyond
expanding trade volumes toward “full” economic integration, Amman
Chamber of Commerce (ACC) Chairman Khalil Hajj Tawfiq said.

Hajj Tawfiq made the remarks during a meeting with Saudi Ambassador
to Jordan Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan Al Saud at the
chamber’s headquarters, according to a chamber statement issued
Sunday.

In a meeting attended by ACC board members,Hajj Tawfiq said the
“depth of political, historical and economic Jordanian-Saudi ties
positions the two kingdoms to advance to a “more mature” stage of
relations grounded in economic integration.

He said the private sector hopes this integration model can serve as
a foundation for strengthening Arab economic unity in the future.

The ambition should not stop at raising trade exchange figures, he
said, but extend to building long-term production and investment
partnerships, deepening ties between the business communities of both
countries, and capitalizing on available opportunities to achieve
genuine economic integration.

He said the chamber has translated this vision into concrete steps
through the Jordanian-Saudi Business Network, expanded cooperation
with the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce, and the activation of the
Jordanian-Saudi Joint Business Council.

For his part, the Saudi ambassador said Jordan and Saudi Arabia are
bound by close relations with historical roots across multiple
sectors.

He said the bilateral economic relations is built on integration
rather than competition, adding that current trade volumes are
“growing steadily,” but should be doubled, given the resources and
opportunities both countries possess.

The ambassador said Jordan and Saudi Arabia share “numerous common”
ground through Saudi Vision 2030 and Jordan’s Economic Modernization
Vision.

He expressed hope the two sides continuously update mutual economic
data and work to remove obstacles impeding cooperation.

The ambassador was briefed on the Jordanian-Saudi Business Network
and its development since the initiative launched in July 2025 with
286 businesspeople and executives.

The network later launched an online platform ahead its official
Riyadh launch in January 2026, which coincided with the signing of a
cooperation agreement between the Amman and Riyadh chambers of
commerce.

That agreement fearured steps to establish a database of
businesspeople and professionals, forming sector committees, and
strengthening direct networking between companies and investors in
both countries.
