Brasilia, July 28 (QNA) – Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva met with Korean counterpart President Lee Jae Myung, who is currently visiting the country.
During the meeting, the two looked into enhancing bilateral relations in different fields, more importantly economic and trade sectors.
The two sides agreed on the importance of resuming stalled negotiations of the trade agreement between South Korea and the Mercosur bloc, whose members include Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Bolivia.
The two leaders looked into a number of regional and international cases of shared interest, and signed a total of seven memorandums of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation between Brazil and South Korea in supply chains and cultural sectors.
South Korea began formal negotiations with Mercosur in 2018 for a trade pact, but the talks have stalled since late 2021.
The Korean president arrived in Brasilia on Monday as part of his three-nation South America tour that will later take him to Chile and Argentina. (QNA)
