Planning Minister, ESCWA official discuss expanding cooperation on sustainable development

Amman, July 28 (Petra) – Minister of Planning and International
Cooperation Zeina Toukan met Tuesday with UN Under-Secretary-General
and Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for
Western Asia (ESCWA), Rania Mashat, to discuss expanding cooperation
in support of Jordan’s sustainable development priorities.

According to a ministry statement, the meeting reviewed cooperation
between Jordan and ESCWA, including ongoing technical assistance
projects in the areas of social development, statistics and data,
digital transformation and artificial intelligence.

Toukan discussed ESCWA’s role in supporting member states through
technical assistance and capacity-building programs, which contribute
to accelerating economic and social development and advancing the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

She praised the strong partnership between Jordan and the commission.

The two sides discussed priorities for future cooperation in line
with Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision and efforts to promote
sustainable economic development.
